Jonathan Garabedian

violinist and Educator

  • I offer private lessons for students of all ages, levels, and abilities.

  • I have over 10 years of experience in preparing students for Royal Conservatory of Music Exams, Competitions, Youth Orchestras, University Auditions, Community Orchestras, Professional Symphony Orchestra Auditions, as well as coaching various chamber music ensembles.

  • My teaching method is different for each student as I strive to cater to the exact needs and goals of every individual. I recommend the Suzuki method for absolute beginner students, and use a wide variety of resources written by respected pedagogues to foster a solid foundation of technique and freedom of musical expression. Some of these include: Sevcik, Dounis, Schradieck, Wolfhart, Kreutzer, Galamian, Fischer, Polo, Flesch, Rode, Dont, Yost, Mazas, Trott, Zafer, Bytovetzski, etc.

  •  I encourage all my students to approach their learning with an open mind, with patience, and with dedication.

  • My philosophy in learning the violin is that no matter how accomplished one becomes on the instrument, improving and maintaining your fundamental skills is always essential.

  • Music lessons are only one aspect of our musical education and as a result I believe it is vital for students to attend concerts, listen to many recordings, research the pieces they play, and cultivate a deep appreciation for the incredible art of music we have the privilege of exploring.
